On October 31, 2000 around 5:30 a.m., Franklin Timber suffered the lost of Kyle Ray Cowart. Kyle started at Franklin Timber on January 4, 1984 at the age of 18. He was put on the job of running the debarker, then he went to the "Little Mill" running the scragg mill. After the "Little Mill" was sold he was made mill-wright at Franklin Timber, then became Supervisor. As you can see from this brief history, through hard work and determination, Kyle accomplished a lot in his career. But more important than his career accomplishments was the way he touched each and every one of us. Whether it was a problem with the running of the mill, or a personal problem you had, Kyle was there. Each of us have our own special memories that we will cherish forever. One of mine is when he jokingly told me "Annette, they gonna miss us when we're gone." He'll never know just how true that statement was. Life goes on and the mill is still running, but things will never be the same and nothing can fill the void we now have in our hearts.
