Aloha,
Most of you know me as Beverly Day. I am the daughter of David and Margaret Day from Franklin County. You know, in the house across from the nursing home. Oh... now you remember, right. *smile* No big deal they don't use street names here on Kauai either, it's always located by a who or something that you live by. It's a small world after all, funny huh.
I have a younger sister and brother, Christy & Kenny. I was recently married September 6th, 2000 and became Beverly Watson. I live in Kauai with my husband ,Randy. He is a local Hawaiian born and raised in Hawaii.

Kauai is a magical place, filled with incredible beauty. The island we live on is approximately a six hour plane ride from California. Kauai is known as the Garden Island.
There are many cultures shared here, one of the cultures we share is from Japan. ( Speaking of Japan , Jen and Rob are about a six hour flight from Hawaii )We take our shoes off before entering someone's house , part of the reason is due to the red dirt that we have on the island. The Hawaiian culture is very giving and loving. The island is one huge ohana (family).
So many things about Kauai that I would love to share. So I'll start with the weather, as you may already know the tropical climate is always warm year round. My husband and I love to go snorkeling ,there is an abundance of sea life to enjoy, such as spinner dolphins, sea turtles, hawaiian monk seals, and tropical fish of any color or size that you could possibly imagine plus so much more.

It is also a great place to hike, there are so many things to see. A popular river here is called the Wailua river. Three miles upstream there is a large swimming hole with a rope swing and a picnic area. There we beach our kayak and hike about 20 minutes to a waterfall with a pool underneath to swim in. We have so much to do here , there is always something that I can learn about or explore. I just can not express enough how beautiful this island is.
We have a well known hawaiian tradition here that is called a luau. It's a bountiful buffet of island food. Including poi (smashed taro), lomi-lomi salmon, mahimahi (fish) and kalua pig roasted in the traditional imu (underground oven). Fire dancers and hula dancers entertain, while everybody eats.
We also have ranches here for horseback riding on the country side, passing the mountains and riding to waterfalls for lunch and a swim. (Is it not obvious that I love to swim). We also love to camp out at the beach with friends on the weekends, one of our favorite pastimes.

From December through May ,Kauai plays host to (gentle giants) whales. They travel from Alaska to Hawaii to engage in breeding, calving, and nursing activities in the warm Hawaiian waters. They entertain us with their rituals of breaching (when the 40 ton whale propels itself out of the water). They are beautiful creatures ! I could go on forever about Kauai. Everything is so beautiful, the best part of living here is sharing a life that brings my husband and I all of the things we hold especially dear, and love that grows more beautiful with every passing day.

Here are twelve ways to keep smiling:
1.Hold on to your dreams, and never let them go
2.Show the rest of the world what God already knows, how wonderful you are
3.Give circumstances a chance, and give others the benefit of doubt
4.Wish on a star that shines in your sky
5. Take on your problems one by one and work things out
6. Rely on all the strength you have inside
7. Let loose of the sparkle and spirit that you sometimes try to hide
8. Stay in touch with those who have touched your life with love
9. Look on the bright side and don't let adversity keep you from winning
10. Be yourself, because you are filled with special qualities that have brought you this far, and that will always see you through
11. Keep your spirits up
12. Make your heart happy, and let it reflect on everything you do!
